2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sedan Review

The term "cult" refers to the film, that even if a real good, just saw the commercial success at the box office. For the automotive industry, 2011 Suzuki Kizashi is very similar to a cult classic. Among mid-size sedan, is one of the best you can buy today. But as the Kizashi debuted at last year's sales are not only achieved blockbuster status. And chances are, none of your friends have heard the story.

 

And it's really a shame, because few have the opportunity to see for themselves how the batteries Kizashi compete. From the outside has a European taste different, much like the previous generation Volkswagen Jetta. Inside, the premium theme continues Kizashi (Volkswagen something really left with the Jetta this year), drivers impressive with excellent materials, nice interior design and solid construction.

Despite limited Suzuki dealer network, the Kizashi is definitely worth the extra effort to see if you are considering a midsize sedan, even among opponents worthy of the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima. While the rear seat is a bit short in the legs compared to bigger models. But along with more vivid sedans like the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima and the Volkswagen Jetta, the Kizashi has much to offer. The Suzuki is one of the few in this class to offer all-wheel drive.

Just as laudable in an independent film, we see 2011 being a must for Suzuki Kizashi Car of the Year. Now if we could just drop it off.

 

Body styles, trim levels and options

The 2011 Suzuki Kizashi is a midsize sedan available in S, Sport GTS SE and SES trim levels.

Kizashi S is a standard 16-inch steel wheels, keyless ignition / entry, full power accessories, dual-zone automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, height-adjustable driver's seat and tilt-telescopic steering wheel. If equipped with a CVT, the S acquires cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a seven-speaker stereo USB / iPod connection. Contains all of the above, plus 17-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel audio controls, and eight instead of as a way power driver memory settings and power lumbar adjustment.

GTS Sport adds 18-inch wheels, sporty exterior treatments (front bumper, side skirts and rear spoiler), fog lights, sunroof, sport suspension with lower height, a 10-speaker Rockford Fosgate stereo and Bluetooth phone / audio streaming . GTS model with AWD Sport also shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel (optional on FWD models).

Top-shelf Kizashi SLS Sport adds automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, heated side mirrors, rear parking sensors, leather interior, heated front seats, passenger seat, and auto-dimming rear view mirror. SLS is an optional navigation, rear camera.

 

Propulsion and Performance

Food of all models of Suzuki Kizashi 2011 is a 2.4 liter four-cylinder. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the sporty S and the GTS sports SLS front-wheel drive, while the CVT is optional trim and standard on AWD and SE. Models with six-speed manual transmission producing 185 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, while the CVT equipped versions are slightly detuned to produce 180 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard on all versions, with optional AWD.

Performance testing, Kizashi SLS, with a manual six-speed transmission and front wheel drive went from zero to 60 mph 8.3 seconds - a bit 'above-average performance, four-cylinder midsize sedan. With CVT, the class is dropped on average 9.1 seconds.

Estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg city/31 mpg highway and 25 mpg in combined driving the S model with manual transmission, while the CVT model is estimated at 23/31/26 mpg. The other ingredients to get to 20/29/24 mpg with six-speed manual, front-wheel mpg 23/30/26 and 22/29/25 CVT mpg with AWD and CVT.
 

Security
Safety features standard on all 2011 Suzuki Kizashi includes antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front and side airbags and rear side curtain airbags. In braking tests, the Kizashi GTS with 18-inch wheels stopped at a good 114 feet.

The Kizashi not been evaluated by the use of the new government, more difficult 2011, crash test procedures. His notes from 2010 (which are not comparable with the evidence of 2011) resulted in a five stars for front and perfect profile. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave top marks Kizashi is "good" for front and side protection compensation and his second highest score of "acceptable" in the roof strength tests.

 

Interior Design and Special Features

For 2011 Suzuki Kizashi interior is known for its use of premium materials and attractive design. Not only is it unusually sophisticated for a Suzuki, but for mid-size sedans in general. Passenger comfort is enhanced by ample clearance and curved seats, even those riding in the backseat can find little leg room compared to most other midsize sedans.

Our complaints are rare, with some noting that the police oversized radio on the screen can only show a few characters at a time. Also the boot is on the small side, with room for only 13.3 cubic feet of cargo.

Guide

Pilots in search of excitement a little 'more out of the family sedan, the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi will prove satisfactory. With plenty of grip and emphasize the need for guidance, Kizashi can easily take a winding road. The suspension calibration is a bit 'firm but not so significant, that sour the overall experience. We look forward to Sport models with 10mm lower ride height, is still a bit 'more rigid. On the road, Kizashi is a quiet and give the drivers a long-range fuel fill-ups.

The output of the four-cylinder engine is sufficient. Transmission shifter six-speed manual may seem a bit vague for the drivers first, but becomes more intuitive to use. Unlike other CVT, the Kizashi has done an admirable job to keep power on tap without much hesitation or the hum of the engine characteristic. Pallets are an added plus for the more sporty drivers who demand more control.
