Though the future of Hummer is uncertain, the company hopes that three concept trucks shown at Novembers SEMA show will inspire enthusiasts to modify the H3 and H3T.
The trucks arent headed for production, but the parts required to build the concepts are all available through Hummers accessories wing or aftermarket tuners.
H3T Weekend Warrior
Changes to the pickup-style H3T make a burly off-roading machine even burlier, starting with the addition of around 70 horsepower to the 5.3-liter V-8s stock 295 horses. Modifications include the addition of a 3.5-inch exhaust system, as well as LS2 cylinder heads and a higher-lift camshaft.
The Weekend Warrior rides on 35-inch BFGoodrich tires clinging to 20-inch wheels from Hummer Accessories. Light Racing and Rod Hall Racing provide upgraded suspension components, while DBA disc brakes improve stopping performance.
The truck is decked out in Baja Orange Metallic paint with satin-metallic trim on the mirrors, door handles, gas cap, and lower grille. Carbon-fiber trim and black leather with orange accents fill the interior. Other accessories include big grille- and roof-mounted lamps for off-roading, as well as a cargo extender that makes room for dirt bikes or other toys in the H3Ts stubby bed.
H3 X Concept
The second of Hummers concept trucks focuses on style rather than performance. This H3 X receives a chrome brush guard and black chrome hood vents, as well as new wheels with 35-inch all-terrain tires (up from factory-spec 32-inchers).
Black leather with orange stitching adorns the seats, armrests, and shift knob. Entertainment comes courtesy of headrest-mounted DVD players. The H3 Xs powertrain and suspension remain unchanged.
H3 Alpha Four Wheeler Project Trailhugger
The coolest of the three SEMA trucks is the one built by Four Wheeler Magazine. The magazines editors took an H3 Alpha and began de-glossing it, resulting in this rugged concept.
Four Wheeler painted the H3s exterior brightwork flat black, then covered the Victory Red paintjob with a dull, satin finish. Sixteen-inch wheels wear 33-inch BFGoodrich off-road tires.
This truck is also probably best suited for abuse off the beaten path. It comes equipped with a beefy skid plate, a winch system, and a roof rack with 10 PIAA lamps to illuminate surroundings. Powertrain upgrades are limited to a Magnaflow exhaust system, and the Trailhugger rides on the same Rod Hall and Light Racing suspension components as the Weekend Warrior. View Photo Gallery
