Cadillac Offers [Some] Free Maintenance Services on New Models

GM's luxury division, Cadillac, announced today that its 2011MY lineup in the U.S. will come with a new free maintenance program covering certain items for the entire length of the bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage, which is four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The program is called "Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance" and it covers scheduled oil changes, tire rotations, replacement of engine and cabin air filters and a multi-point vehicle inspection.

This means Cadillac's program covers less items/services than other automakers in the U.S. like BMW and Lincoln (see below). For example, BMW's 'Ultimate Service" includes oil changes, inspection services, wiper blade inserts, brake pads, brake discs, engine drive belts and brake fluids.

2012 Cadillac CTS 3.6 Sedan

What Is It?
Its the latest CTS, which is a lot like the CTS we already know and like. For 2012, the 3.6-liter version of Cadillacs only car gets a new cylinder-head design with integrated exhaust manifolds, a composite intake manifold, lighter connecting rods, and upgrades to the fuel system. Power is up by 14 hp to 318, and the torque peak is now 275 lb-ft, an increase of just 2 but available 300 rpm sooner on the tachometer. Incidentally, the 2012 Camaros V-6 gets the same upgrades this year and makes 323 hp. Cadillac claims that the changes reduce engine weight by 21 pounds.
The other major change for 2012 is a refreshed grille, which has a new frame and mesh combination and sharper colors in the Cadillac logo. We actually had to take that line from the press release because we only noticed the changes after looking at photos of the 2011 and 2012 car side by side. In person, it still looks like a nice grille, but it doesnt stand out as radically different.
How Does It Drive?
So, about that weight savings. Our test car weighed in 101 pounds heavier than a comparable 2008 CTS equipped with an automatic transmission. Some of those extra pounds can be attributed to larger wheels (the new car rides on 19-inchers; the 2008 rolled on 18s) and differences in optional equipment, but the weight savings from the engine alone is negligible.
The power difference is negligible as well. With a 0-to-60-mph time of 6.2 seconds, the new car is 0.2 second slower than the 2008 version we tested but in the middle of the range of other CTS cars, including those with a manual transmission (which, incidentally, is no longer offered with the 3.6-liter). The 2011 does the quarter-mile in 14.7 seconds at 98 mph, 0.1 second and 1 mph behind the old car. Fuel economy is unchanged at an EPA-rated 18 city, 27 highway, and we averaged 22 mpg during our test.
How Does It Stack Up?
After the fanfare of a new model launch, most cars fade into relative obscurity from a press standpoint. Journalists dont get a lot of exposure to a car late in the product cycle. Our time in the revised CTS served as a reminder that General Motors can build a car that looks and drives as well as any European-designed sports sedan. Particularly impressive is the ride, which handles Michigans pothole-ravaged streets in comfort but retains a tautness that encourages fast cornering. The sales pitch back when the second-generation CTS was new was that it offered space similar to the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class for a price similar to the 3-series and C-class. The bigger cars, as well as Audis stunning new A6, are a class above the CTS in refinement and material quality. But the concept behind the CTS is a thoroughly American idea of getting a little more than you pay for, which we like.
Whats the Cost?
Of course, the value proposition is great in theory. And the CTS with a 270-hp, 3.0-liter V-6 (available only in the sedan) starts at $36,790. We have yet to test that car; even the CTS that competed in our Rental-Car Olympics came with the 3.6. Stepping up to the bigger engine increases the price to $43,165, and all-wheel drive is an additional $1900. Our test car, a rear-wheel-drive 3.6 Premium model, had a base price of $49,165. Add Recaro seats and some spiffy interior trim as part of the $2810 Touring package, the $2090 19-inch Summer Tire Performance package, and $995 paint, and you get our are-you-kidding as-tested price of $55,060. A brand-new Audi A6 in mid-level Premium Plus trim costs $56,495 if you add 19-inch summer tires. The four-year-old CTS doesnt compare to the newer German alternatives at the same price. So the value doesnt necessarily work out in reality. But the CTS can satisfy if youre careful with the optional equipment, and it remains one of the best American cars on the market.

2012 Cadillac CTS Sedan

That which is great can still be improved upon, and so it is with the 2012 Cadillac CTS, which gets 14 additional horsepower from its top-spec V-6 and some small styling and equipment changes.
The revised direct-injection 3.6-liter V-6 now puts out 318 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque, thanks mostly to intake changes, including larger valves, revised ports, and a tweaked camshaft that keeps the intake valves open longer. (The same engine makes 323 hp in the updated 2012 Chevrolet Camaro.) Compared to last years 3.6-liter V-6, this years iteration is nearly 21 pounds lighter; 13 pounds were saved by integrating the heads and exhaust manifolds, 2 pounds from a lighter-weight front accessory-drive cover and new connecting rods, and 5.5 came out from using a plastic intake manifold in place of last years aluminum piece. The base 270-hp, 3.0-liter V-6 carries over unchanged, and can still be mated to both a six-speed automatic and six-speed manual. The manual is no longer available with the 3.6-liter, however.
The 2012 CTSs standard-equipment list sees Bluetooth added to all models and a blind-spot monitoring system to the coupe (good thing, because the two-doors rakish roofline and wide C-pillars make for huge blind spots). A new Touring package is available with either engine and with any body style, and adds a dark-finish grille, metal pedal covers, dark wood trim, and V-style suede stuff covering the steering wheel, shift knob, and seat inserts. Polished 19-inch wheels and Recaro seatsdisliked by most of us for feeling overstuffed and for rocking back and forth under braking and accelerationcome with 3.6-liter Touring models, while 3.0-liter examples get pearl-nickel-finished 18s and the regular seats, albeit now sueded. Sedan and wagon buyers who spec the pack get an extra-special bonus: chrome exterior door handles.
The line-wide cosmetic changes are less extensive. The grille sees new finishes and a revised Caddy wreath with sharper colors, and its mesh insert is flusher with the frame. Thats it.
The 2012 CTS sedan, coupe, and wagon go on sale at the end of this summer. View Photo Gallery

Ahem... Motor Trend Thinks Cadillac Ups the Ante with Free Oil Change and Cabin Filters

Earlier today, we reported that Cadillac announced a 'free service plan' for its 2011MY cars. Here's what the plan includes in GM's own words: "The program, called Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance, covers scheduled oil changes, tire rotations, replacement of engine and cabin air filters and a multi-point vehicle inspection."

Call us picky, but we like to... look between the lines and read between the words. In Motor Trend's report on the matter, not only does the author forget to mention what GM / Cadillac covers in its free maintenance program, but the article goes on to say that "Cadillac managed to up the ante this morning with its announcement" and that " Cadillac's plan essentially mirrors BMW's Ultimate Service program."

Cadillac SRX (2012)[Reviews]

A new 3.6L V-6 - the most powerful production engine in the segment - Updates values in the 2012 Cadillac SRX. Enhance a combination of performance, technology and sophistication that is resonating with more luxury crossover customers.

Cadillac SRX retail sales grew by 17.7 percent in the first half of 2011 based on record 2010 net sales increased by 150 percent.

The new 3.6 liters - known by its codename "LFX" engine - the engine is only offered on the Cadillac SRX offers a power of 16 percent (308 hp / 230 kW) than the previous V-6 offers more. . high torque at low revs the reactivity of the vehicle has been improved considerably in all operating conditions - the release of a stop near the town of maneuver in traffic, passing maneuvers and the acceleration is at full speed. is matched with the Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission, which has a function driver-selectable Eco-changing shift points and increase the throttle to help maximize fuel economy.

Cadillac SRX also provides enhanced features for 2012, and updates that make it quieter and more refined - including new absorbent materials placed strategically in the car. The basic suspension system and Sport have been revised to improve ride quality.

"The improvements we've made to the 2012 SRX luxury crossover to the already great even better, to give our customers greater performance and functionality," said Don Butler, vice president of marketing for Cadillac. "Many changes are a direct response to feedback from consumers, demonstrating the commitment of Cadillac to total customer satisfaction."

Inside the LFX
Cadillac
SRX: LFX the new direct injection 3.6 V-6 delivers 308 hp SAE certificate (230 kW) and 265 Nm of torque (359 Nm), where efficiency, improve features such as direct injection and distribution Continuously variable valve timing. The maximum torque is reached only at 2400 rpm and maintained at 5300 rpm. LFX is also E85 ethanol-compatible.

"The development team was challenged to reach 300 horsepower in the SRX and surpassed the goal," said Liz Pilibosian, chief engineer. "The horsepower and torque at low engine speeds of 3 L 0.6 provides more power demand at the launch, on steep slopes and overtaking. LFX The engine range also contributes to a better sense of displacement." To help them achieve their performance goals, the engineers redesigned Cadillac SRX exhaust system with dual motor runners collection point further back in the vehicle. The diameter and length of the pipes have been specially optimized to improve low-end torque of 1200-3000 rpm.

Pulses of high pressure exhaust of each engine cylinder are timed to arrive at the collection point for all the phase accurately. This setting effect, which is literally called out the analysis engine exhaust timing pulses of high and low pressure of each cylinder. Maximum torque is now produced in a very low 2400 rpm and stays high over 5300 rpm. Improvements in torque and power is achieved by maintaining quiet operation.
"No stone was left unturned when it came to LFX optimize the flow of air from the moment it enters the engine until it is expelled through a muffler," said Pilibosian. "The exceptional flow characteristics we were able to exceed 300 horsepower goal, but a careful calibration of the continuously variable valve timing and engine exhaust system contributes a great low-end torque."

The engine is coupled with an LFX Hydra-Matic 6T70 electronically controlled six-speed automatic with tap up / tap down control of the driver. A report broadcast wide range of 6.04:1 allows a "steep" first gear, and a "great" Top Gear Overdrive for highway cruising at low revs. The maximum acceleration is so fuel economy. Engine noise is also lower during the cruise. Because of the widespread report (6.04:1), the first a very high gear, giving a smooth acceleration from a stop. Sixth, however, is an overdrive ratio keeps the engine speed as low as possible for highway cruising, which reduces the friction of the engine and improve fuel economy.

A driver-selectable feature modifies Eco crossing points of the 6T70 to improve fuel economy up to 1 mile per gallon. A clutch was added to the variable displacement compressor air conditioning air to improve fuel economy. The compressor runs only when needed and offers no resistance when turned off.

Chassis and suspension

Cadillac SRX is a four-wheel independent suspension and rack and pinion hydraulic steering mechanism of the standard system - and offers an effort varies depending on the speed steering - partial development sports sedan driving style and a feeling of strong center. StabiliTrak electronic stability control is standard, and braking is standard four-wheel-disc/four-channel-ABS system. For 2012 Base suspension provides more driving comfort, which is to maintain an excellent driving characteristics, shock thanks to new media in the pocket, Tuning greater security, a new front stabilizer bar bushings glued, and the new twin-tube tunnels rear shocks that offer more road isolation.
Active sports suspension - standard on the performance and premium collections - will also improve for the year 2012, a new front strut mounts higher, new valves, shock absorbers, stabilizer bar bushings glued and revised suspension calibration for this real-time variable damping. Electronically controlled shock absorbers at each corner "read" the road constantly make changes in real time in milliseconds. They offer just the right damper interest in all road conditions, more comfort and more of a sense of control. It also increases the absorption during treatment of aggressive measures to reduce the rate of roll and pitch speed of the vehicle feel more confident.

Cadillac SRX has also offered all-wheel-drive system, which includes an electronic limited slip (eLSD) differential. It not only improves the grip on a slippery road conditions, but provides a means to side torque transfer along the rear axle for improved turning control difficult. And 'developed in conjunction with Haldex, a technology that brings all-wheel-drive and AWD system allows eLSD divides torque front and rear axle, and also in the middle to the side, the entire rear axle, sending power the grip of the big wheel.

The car show features fine grain black leather-trimmed seats with inserts of Alcantara Recaro. The seat inserts are located in the center and accented with dark gray stitching, while the V-Series logo is laser engraved on the back seat. Obsidian black with accents of the center console, steering wheel and console door panels.
The custom show car color and trim refers to the possible direction of finishes and colors in the future Cadillac models. These products are not intended for production, but the desire to represent Cadillac to assess customer reaction to new colors and finishing options.

Compressor performance

The 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 drives the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon - the same engine found in the acclaimed V-Series sedan and coupe models. Rated at 556 horsepower (415 kW) and 551 lb.-ft. of torque (747 Nm) is the most powerful engine offered in Cadillac's history.

The engine is equipped with an intercooled Eaton vortex series Twin ™ (TVS ™) supercharger. This concept of single compressor, uses two four-lobe rotors, twisted 160 degrees. Typical compressor has three bedrooms twisted 60 degrees. The fourth lobe and added twist, when combined with the single air intake and exhaust, creating smoother, more efficient airflow into the engine. In addition to improving the overall efficiency, the compressor noise and superior vibration characteristics compared to more common designs.

A pair of six-speed transmissions are available in the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon - a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual with twin-disc clutch and a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic transmission with steering controls wheel change. The steering wheel controls do not require movement of gear lever and allows for immediate pressure up / tap down gear selection. Performance Algorithm Shifting allows the transmission of the car with a pattern of change based on performance during sustained high-performance driving. As with many Cadillac models, the driver simply slide the switch to the instruction manual "door" to set the mode transmission performance.

The torque is channeled through a six-speed transmission for high-performance rear-wheel limited slip differential has a cast iron thermal management and more asymmetric shafts easily handle the supercharged engine has a couple amazing. The unique design includes alternating the size of the drive shafts, which also contribute to a dynamically balanced swing torque from side to side, effectively eliminating a "power-hop."

Magnetic Ride Control

The V-Series reached exceptional levels of driving performance, but also maintains the balance of the luxury car in "normal" driving. The facilitator of the technique of two driving modes is of a Cadillac Magnetic Ride Control history. That is standard on the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon and technology in the world of fastest-reacting suspension. It uses shocks controlled by advanced magneto-rheological technology, rather than mechanical valves, speeding response time and accuracy.

Electronic sensors on all four wheels literally "read the road" every millisecond, making constant changes to damping to create virtually instantaneous and extremely controlling precise movements of the body. This is particularly useful for high performance cars, because it helps keep the car very composed when cornering hard acceleration, braking and other dynamic movements.

Magnetic Ride shocks also enable a wider range of damping control to optimize ride and handling in all driving conditions. The Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon is an additional degree of control available with two selectable modes (Tour and Sport), allows the driver to adjust the suspension for Grand Touring or driving performance more lively.
Cadillac pioneered Magnetic Ride Control, with the first production in 2002, after decades of research on magneto-rheological science. Today, technology is only shown in a short list of the world's finest vehicles, including Cadillac V-Series models, the Escalade luxury SUV and the STS and DTS luxury sedan.

Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires

Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon includes sophisticated braking and tire systems, in collaboration of two companies known for high-performance technology: Brembo and Michelin. Brembo brakes are all the corners, and are efficient, six-piston calipers front and rear four-piston.

Ventilated rotors of large size allows a strong initial braking force while optimizing heat resistance and eliminating fade. Brembo brake discs made of a '"dual-cast technology that combines cast iron and aluminum, the superior performance and weight loss.

Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon is also an electronic parking brake, which allows good dead pedal position, which is important for high-performance driving.

Michelin worked with Cadillac engineers to develop an exclusive Pilot Sport PS2 tires designed specifically for the CTS-V. Rings supported by high-grip track conditions, giving excellent road performance.

Comfort, style and technique

Interior Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon has been split into sedan, including streamlined instrumentation, LED lighting and hand-cut and stitched accents.

Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon model of production will come standard with performance seats with perforated suede microfibre inserts designed to keep the driver and front passenger in place during cornering. Recaro performance seats are optional and provide excellent support for the conduct lively. These 14 seats and performance include adjustable pneumatic tightening of controls in the seat cushions and folders.

Complementing the performance of seats is a thick steering wheel and gauge package designed to facilitate, at a glance reference during the conduct of performance. Main instruments are identified fats, including an LED on "tracer" function in the tachometer that flashes as the engine approaches the redline. Setting gauge includes a boost gauge and a display of lateral acceleration.
Obsidian black accents grace the center console, console, steering wheel and door panels. The production of the steering wheel and gearshift lever are available in Alcantara, a lush suede. These accents are an elegant touch and help support the driver while driving high performance. Like every CTS, the V-series is hand-stitched instrument panel, door panels and center console.

Cutting-edge infotainment features extend to the V-series. Standard features include an advanced navigation on the placing of the display, a Bose 5.1 surround sound audio, Bluetooth phone integration factory installed, and 40-gigabyte hard drive that allows the client to store vast library of music files. Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition (2011) [Reviews]

Cadillac will offer this spring edition of the Black Diamond high-performance CTS-V comes with a number of performance options and popular exclusive three coats of paint, also called "Black Diamond".

Black Diamond edition, included in the CTS-V sedan, coupe and wagon models will be the first use of an automobile manufacturer of pigment JDSU SPECTRAFLAIR exclusive in North America. JDSU, a technology company Milipitas, California-based specialized in optical solutions for peak color in many markets. Its pigments are used in some paints DuPont is Cadillac.

The Cadillac CTS-V, Black Diamond, dark three-layer paint pigment is embedded in the bright silver SpectraFlair. While other manufacturers of luxury to provide a metallic paint, Black Diamond was created through a meticulous process that gives dimension to paint.

Instead of just containing small pieces of metal, Black Diamond SpectraFlair pigments used aluminum pigments encapsulated in a glass-like substance called magnesium fluoride. The result is a painting that has a diamond shine as the light strikes the surface from different angles.
"The Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition is a finely crafted, custom tuxedo," said Michelle Killen, Cadillac designer exterior paint. "The base color can be a simple black, but the details and richness of the material that distinguish it."

The custom color and show car trim components indicates the potential direction of the color and finish in the future Cadillac models. These items are not yet intended for production, but represents the desire of Cadillac to assess customer reaction to new colors and finishing options.

The production CTS-V Sport Wagon.

CTS-V Sport Wagon will go into production in late 2010, with sales in North America, followed by export markets, including Europe and the Middle East. The new model turns the V-series offers, including all variants of the CTS family sedan, hatchback and Sport Wagon body.

Like its sedan and coupe stable mates, the Sport Wagon CTS-V driven by a compressor, 6.2-liter V-8 that delivers 556 hp (415 kW) and backed by a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission speeds. A series of technical and functional elements complement the powertrain, including Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires mounted on rims performance 19-inch forged aluminum.

Like other CTS V-Series Sportwagon models incorporate a single grid which doubles the air flow front to contribute to its high performance features. It is also visually identified by an aggressive front fascia and raised middle section of the aluminum hood made room for the compressor. It mounts on 19-inch wheels forged aluminum are available in lacquer finish or polished.

The rest of the exterior design conveys the drama of the new CTS Sport Wagon, including the following:

• Signature V-shaped deck and tailgate Topic

On the back is a pair of 3 inches (76 mm), chrome exhaust tips, which cover a dual exhaust system performance grade stainless steel that will maintain a shiny longer than stainless.

Of course, it is the characteristic hallmark of a wagon, and the V-Series Sportwagon offers with 25.4 cubic feet (720 liters) of space behind the rear seat and 58 cubic meters (1644 liters) with folded - almost doubled the available space the sedan.

Supercharged performance.

The 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 pushes the cart CTS-V Sport - the same engine found in the acclaimed V-Series sedan and coupe models.

A pair of six-speed transmissions are offered on the CTS-V Wagon Sport - a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual with twin-disc clutch and a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic with shift controls on the steering wheel. The steering wheel does not require movement of valve lever up and leave immediately / drop gear selection. Performance Algorithm Shifting allows the transmission of the car with a pattern of change based on sustained performance in high-performance driving. As with many models of Cadillac, the driver simply slide the shifter in the manual "gate" to set the mode of transmission.

The torque is channeled through the gearbox to a six-speed rear axle has a high performance limited slip differential at the rear of a cast iron housing for increased thermal management and asymmetrical half-shafts to manage them transparent incredible torque supercharged engine. The unique design includes alternating half-size trees, which also contributes to dynamically balance the fluctuations in torque from side to side, effectively eliminating the "power hop."

Magnetic Ride Control.
V-Series reaches extraordinary levels of performance bond, but also maintains the balance of the luxury car in "normal" driving. The technical facilitator of two-mode driving character is Cadillac Magnetic Ride Control history. It is standard on the CTS-V Sport Wagon, and is the technology of the world's fastest-reacting suspension. It uses shocks controlled by Advanced magneto-rheological technology, rather than mechanical valves, greatly accelerating response time and accuracy.

Electronic sensors on all four wheels literally "read the road" every millisecond, making adjustments constantly damping to create a command almost instantaneous and extremely precise movements of the body. This is particularly advantageous for a high performance car, as it helps to keep the car very composed when cornering hard acceleration, braking and other dynamic maneuvers.

Magnetic Ride dampers also allows a wider range of damping control to optimize ride and handling in all driving conditions. The CTS-V Sport Wagon is offered in several control measures, two selectable (Tour and Sport), which allows the driver to tailor the suspension for Gran Turismo or more mental performance driving.

Brembo brakes and tires Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.

CTS-V Sport Wagon includes sophisticated braking and tire, in collaboration with two companies known for high-performance technology: Brembo and Michelin. Brembo brakes are at the four corners and include powerful, six-piston calipers in front and four-piston calipers in the rear.

Recaro performance seats are optional and provide excellent support for the conduct lively. These 14 seats include adjustable and performance tires tighten controls in the seat cushions and folders.

Supplement the benefits of the seats are behind the wheel of thickness and gauge package is designed for easy reference at a glance the performance driving. Tion tools are in large bold type, including LED-illuminated function of "tracer" a tachometer that flashes as the engine approaches the red line. Layout indicator includes an indicator of thrust, and the display of lateral acceleration.

Obsidian black with accents of the center console, steering wheel and console door panels. The steering wheel and the lever of production are available in Alcantara, the nature of provision of luxe suede. These details are elegant to the touch and support the driver in high-performance driving. Just like every CTS, the V-Series includes a hand-stitched panel of instruments, door panels and center console.

2011 Cadillac CTS Review

2011 Cadillac CTS Review

2011 Cadillac CTS reflects push society to become more competitive with the dominant models of foreign producers. Today, heavy bloated March yachts along the interstate in the past, when CTS is much neater and more compact than the previous Cadillac. Innovative styling and performance improvement are essential for the control of the company in a new direction.

There are a lot of the new line-up for CTS, but this is mainly related to the latest coupe version, which is covered in a review aside, it's like extra-spicy CTS-V model. In the current 2011 CTS sedan remains relatively unchanged from the previous model.

Back for the 2011 CTS sedan is the same decision engine - 270 horsepower 3.0-liter V6 and 3.6-liter makes 306 hp. A selection of suspensions is still available, with varying degrees of sporty driving dynamics. Unfortunately, the same problems remain, such as a hard driving position, poor rear visibility and abused (with sport suspension). We are also a little concerned about the reliability of the CTS, 2008 as long-term test vehicles had been plagued by inconsistent CTS build quality and some electronic gremlins.

2011 Cadillac CTS is definitely a step in the right direction, but it is still lagging behind the likes of the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Infiniti G37 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class quality and handling. We are also very passionate about the Hyundai Genesis, because it offers the same level of luxury with a price tag significantly lower. CTS should be considered, but it is recommended to control the race before the final decision.

Body styles, trim levels and options

In 2011, the Cadillac CTS sedan is a five-passenger midsize luxury, available in five trim levels: base 3.0, 3.0 Luxury, Performance 3.0, 3.6 and 3.6 Premium Performance.

Standard equipment on the 3.0 includes alloy wheels, 17 inches, automatic headlights, keyless entry, cruise control, dual automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver seat, rear center armrest with pass-through and a tilt steering wheel telescopic, high quality vinyl "leather" upholstery, automatic dimming mirror rear view and a CD stereo with eight speakers satellite radio.

The Deluxe 3.0 adds 10-way power front seats, heated front seats, driver memory functions, Leather upholstery, wood and leather steering wheel, interior ambient lighting, Bluetooth and a six CD changer.

It has 3.0 deluxe amenities, more performance trim 18-inch wheels, fog lights, brake performance upgrade FE2 sport suspension, limited slip rear differential, adaptive HID headlights. Performance 3.6 V6 engine and adds a greater 10-speaker surround sound stereo with digital music storage and a USB / iPod audio.

Two trim levels to rate the performance of two luxury packages available adds rear parking sensors, folding rear seat, heated front seats with heating and cooling column tilts and telescopes steering, keyless ignition / entry and start remote control. 3.6 Premium level two facilities and a panoramic sunroof (optional on other models CTS) and a hard drive-based navigation system in real-time traffic and weather.

A rearview camera and navigation system is optional on all but the base CTS. Package 19-inch summer performance tires (available on models 3.6) adds 19-inch wheels, summer tires, an upgrade FE3 performance suspension and improved steering. Nineteen-inch all-season tires are also available.

Propulsion and Performance
2011 Cadillac CTS buyers can choose between two V6 engines. The base 3.0-liter V6 produces 270 horsepower and 223 lb-ft of torque and achieves an EPA estimated 18 mpg and 22 mpg highway mpg city/27 combined. The 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 306 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque and earnings forecasts of 18/27/21 mpg.

The base 3.0 and the luxury models feature a standard six-speed manual transmission available with an optional six-speed automatic. The automatic transmission is standard for all other models, but the manual is also available with the 3.6 liter engine. Rear-wheel drive is standard with optional all-wheel drive models with automatic transmission.

In performance tests, run the V6 3.6 with an automatic rear-wheel drive CTS sedan from zero to 60 km / h in 6.7 seconds.

Security
Standard safety features for the 2011 Cadillac CTS include antilock disc brakes, traction control, stability control, side airbags for front seats, full-length side curtain airbags and GM's OnStar emergency communications.

In government crash tests, the CTS earned four out of five stars for frontal crash protection and five stars for perfect side. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests, the sedan was awarded the top rating of "good" in frontal-offset and side impact tests.

In braking tests, the CTS 3.6 Premium with FE2 suspension and tires of the season came to a stop from 60 mph in 117 feet, which is very good for a luxury sedan. With 19-inch wheels and summer tires, this distance is reduced to an impressive 109 feet.

Interior Design and Special Features

Inside, the 2011 Cadillac CTS has a nice powerful theme at the height of his nervousness out. Soft-touch materials abound, highlighted by tasteful woodwork. The optional navigation system shows the top of the dashboard and retreats almost entirely, leaving a small piece visible as a touch screen for audio system - an ingenious and elegant alternative to having a separate control panel.

Unfortunately, the interior also comes with its fair share of mistakes. Many find the driving position awkward because of the slightly offset pedals and knee space compromised by scanning the center console. Rear visibility is particularly poor, forcing drivers to rely on the camera option when reversing maneuvers in the opposite direction.

Hamper the overall level comfort and stiff backs and rear seat passengers the price even more because of the low roof line. Luggage space is decent, but the narrow opening requires a bit 'of pushing, to accommodate bulky items. Golf clubs will not fit in width, and eating space, since they must be placed diagonally.

Guide

2011 Cadillac CTS tracks through the curves of a lot more athletic than you might expect. The steering is precise and well weighted, the CTS Competitive its European competitors. However, driving performance comes at the expense of ride comfort. They expect the lap of luxury Cadillacs of the past are likely to find Fe2 Performance suspension too stiff to cut designs to their tastes. Fe3 even stiffer sport suspension, then it would probably be too hard and unforgiving for most people.

Power base 3.0-liter V6 is slow compared to the 3.6-liter engine with broad shoulders. Since both engines achieve almost identical fuel consumption, we recommend springing a V6 engine larger if your budget allows.

Cadillac SRX Gets More Power for 2012

GM has announced that it will be offering its direct-injected 3.6-liter V-6 engine as standard equipment on the 2012 Cadillac SRX. The new engine will replace the current 3.0-liter V-6 and the 2.8-liter turbocharged V-6, which was discontinued earlier this year.

The engine is the same V-6 that's currently offered in the CTS, putting out 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque in the SRX. Cadillac says that in addition to the added power and torque, it also delivers its torque over a wider range than the 3.0-liter V-6, giving the SRX more flexibility. Speaking of flexibility, the new V-6 is also flex-fuel capable, able to run on gasoline, E85 ethanol, or any combination of the two.

The new engine will make the SRX one of the more powerful vehicles in the two-row luxury crossover market, outpowering the Lexus RX 350, Infiniti EX35, Mercedes-Benz GLK 350, and matching the BMW X3 xDrive35i in horsepower (although it gives up a little in torque to the Bimmer).

Cadillac also unveiled a host of new enhancements for the 2012 SRX. All 2012 Cadillac SRX models get standard Bluetooth, and luxury, premium and performance models receive a new standard heated steering wheel. A new machine-finish 20-inch wheel design is also standard on premium and performance models. Cadillac is even addressing a minor ergonomic quirk in the SRX, adding door lock buttons on the driver's and passenger's door panels. Previously, the button was only on the center console, although that button remains for the 2012 model year.carmax.blogspot.com

2012 Cadillac SRX Upgrades To New V-6

2012 Cadillac SRX2012 Cadillac SRX
With the current model already surging in sales in the luxury crossover segment, the 2012 Cadillac SRX will add even more excitement for prospective buyers: a new engine with more horsepower and torque.
The added boost comes in the form of a new 300-horsepower 3.6-liter direct-injected V-6 engine that produces 260 pound-feet of torque. This is 35 more horsepower and 37 more pound-feet of torque than the current 2011 Cadillac SRX 3.0-liter engine generating 265 horsepower and 223 pound-feet of torque.
What does this added horsepower and torque do for the driver? Don Butler, Vice-president of Cadillac marketing says the new engine will make the SRX more responsive for passing on the highway, entering freeways from on-ramps and climbing hills.
Cadillac also says the new engine has a wider rpm range for maximum torque, which provides the driver more power across a wider range of speeds and driving conditions. Its also FlexFuel capable, meaning it can run on gasoline, E85 ethanol, or any combination of the two. While EPA fuel economy ratings have not been finalized, Cadillac says it expects consumers will see comparable real-world fuel-efficiency. The current Cadillac SRX is EPA-rated at 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway.
Cadillac SRX models with the new engine arrive in dealerships in late summer. Pricing will be announced closer to production.
General Motors says the more powerful engine will build the sales momentum of the Cadillac SRX, number three best-selling mid-size luxury crossover in 2010 with sales of 51,094. Caddy is ratcheting up so far in 2011, with first-quarter SRX sales up 29 percent to 13,959 and aiming its sights on number-one in the segment, the Lexus RX350. Last year, the Lexus RX350 accounted for 95,790 sales. Number two best-seller in the segment is Cadillac SRXs corporate sibling, the Buick Enclave, which posted 55,426 sales in 2010.
Interesting note, per Cadillac: the 2012 Cadillac SRXs more powerful engine is projected to top the Lexus RX350 in both horsepower and torque. Lexus rates the RX350 at 275 horsepower and 257 pounds-feet of torque.
Other SRX enhancements for 2012
Besides the new engine, the 2012 Cadillac SRX will feature Bluetooth phone connectivity on all models, a heated steering wheel on upper trim levels, and door lock switches on the driver and passenger door panels. The new model will continue to have door lock switches on the center console.
The 2012 Cadillac SRX, available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, will also offer new machined-face finish on its 20-inch wheels, which are standard on SRX performance and premium trim levels.
