2012 Jaguar XKR-S Official Photos and Info

Jaguar has been promising for some time that it would use this years Geneva auto show to begin celebrating the 50th anniversary of its iconic E-type. Many expected this nod to the companys heritage would include the announcement of a new small sports car. That is not the vehicle you see here. This is the 2012 XKR-S, and it proves that someone decided to make the XKR very angry. The thing looks as if its been raised in the wild. By a pack of badly behaved race cars that have never been to England or heard of the original E-type.
On the subject of heritage, it should be noted that this is not the first time Jag has used these four letters in a row. The company brought a 550-hpXK-RS concept with a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 to the 2004 Chicago show. And then in 2009, Jaguar built a run of 200 XKR-S models for European customers, giving the cars unique appearance bits but no additional power. The 2012 XKR-S happens to combine traits of both cars: the engine is a hopped-up version of the XKRs supercharged 5.0-liter, and the car takes aesthetic crazy to new levels.
The 5.0, tuned to produce 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque, propels the car to a claimed top speed of 186 mph. Jag projects a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.2 seconds, but we would expect to better that time; a 2010 XKR we tested, with its V-8 producing 510 hp and 461 lb-ft, hit the mark in four seconds flat. The extra power comes courtesy of remapped fuel delivery and additional tuning. Better breathingand better soundscome courtesy of an active exhaust system. The XKR-S is the most powerful and quickest series-production road car the company has ever built. The company also points out that the XKR-S will be its first series-production model to join the vaunted 300-kph (186-mph) club. (The low-production and hyper-exotic XJ220, which nearly met the boast of its name in miles per hour, is understandably being left out of this count.)
We believe Jaguar when it says the design of the XKR-S was aerodynamically driven. Unique front and rear fascias are evident, the hood is mostly vents and nostrils, and theres a big fixed rear wing, a first for an XK. Look closely and youll notice that the LED headlights are of an entirely new shape compared with those of other XKs. Carbon fiber is used on the front splitter, the center section of the wing, and the rear diffuser, the latter of which cozies up to the four exhaust outlets. The massaging not only provides a unique look among Jagsalthough maybe not tuned importsbut a claimed 26-percent reduction in lift.
Theres no chrome on this thing, save for the leaper emblem thats been added on the back; everything that might be rendered in the shiny stuff is instead body color or gloss black. Speaking of body colors, there are five options, including Italian Racing Red and French Racing Blue, and theyre intended to evoke Jaguars competition heritage. (Yes, racing Jags of yore were painted in those national colors and campaigned by people other than Brits. Not all British cars have to be painted BRG.) Inside theres a red start button, various subtle trim changes, and carbon-look leather for the better-bolstered front seatswhich feature 16-way adjustment, memory, and heating. This is still a Jaguar, after all.
But the XKR-S is not just engine and dress-up. Attention has been paid to the chassis, including a 0.4-inch reduction in ride height, a new aluminum steering knuckle, and revised rear-suspension geometry. Front and rear spring rates are stiffened by 28 percent. The Adaptive Damping system gets unique software programming, as does the stability-control system. The cars lightweight, forged 20-inch wheels are a half-inch wider in the rear than the optional 20s on the XK and XKR. They measure nine inches wide in the front and 10.5 in back, and are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero rubber measuring 255/35 up front and 295/35 at the rear.
While not a particularly fitting tribute to the E-type, the XKR-S has some serious promise. It may offendor at least not appeal toJag purists, but thats on purpose. Jaguar hopes to create models and spin-offs that attract new customers, while at the same time offering products that satisfy loyal buyers. The number of new customers that will be able to buy the ostensibly limited XKR-S, and how much theyll have to shell out, has yet to be revealed.

2012 Jaguar XKR-S- Photo and info

Jaguar calls the XKR-S the companys most responsive, powerful, agile, and driver-focused production car. Its also the quickest ever. Yes, its quicker and more potent than even the 199294 ?XJ220 supercar.
Stout claim, but the numbers back it up. The twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 in the XJ220 we tested 18 years ago [November 1993] generated 542 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.
The supercharged and direct-injected 5.0-liter AJ V-8 propelling the XKR-S huffs up 550 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 502 pound-feet of torque between 2500 and 5500 rpm. Throttle response is instantaneous and linear, and the aural accompaniment is habit-forming.
Like the other XKs, the XKR-S employs a responsive six-speed automatic (with paddle shifters for manual operation). Jaguar expects the car to reach a mile per minute in 4.2 seconds (the XJ220 did 4.4), with a governed top speed of 186 mph.
Equally impressive, the S achieves the same EPA ratings as the XKR15 mpg city and 22 highwayjust above the gas-guzzler threshold.
After a day herding this quickest of all cats over mountain roads, were inclined to doubt Jaguars performance claims. Unless something goes terribly wrong, the XKR-S will be much quicker to 60 than the company forecasts. Hell, last time we tested an XKR, it did the deed in 4.0.
Thanks largely to revised exhaust plumbingwhich allowed attendant tweaks to the fuel mappingthe S version of the engine tops the XKRs output by 40 ponies. Applying the old dollars-per-horsepower formula, the XKR-S price premium may look a little steep. The 2012 XKR coupe will start at $97,500; the XKR-S coupe (a convertible may come along later) will be $132,875 when it reaches showrooms in October.
Thats about $884 per additional filly. But theres much more to the package than mere muscle.
Lets start with the functional. The suspension features new aluminum knuckles, stiffer springs (by 28 percent, front; 32 percent, rear), active dampers, revised rear geometry, and an active (read: torque-vectoring) differential. The active diff allowed the chassis team to raise the stability-control threshold.
Static ride height is 10 mm (0.4 inch) lower, and the S rolls on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels wearing a set of Pirelli P Zeros (255/35 front, 295/30 rear). Remarkably, its ride quality is supple. Grip is barnacle-like, and when the driver exceeds the cars limitswhich requires determinationhell feel the diff helping to keep the front of the vehicle ahead of the stern.
Aerodynamics are another stability enhancer. Besides reduced ride height, the S sports a new carbon-fiber front splitter and rear wing, rocker-panel extensions, and a rear diffuser. The aero doodads reduce high-speed lift by 26 percent, says the company.
Interior furnishings are distinguished by a pair of supportive leather-clad bucket seats, more aggressively bolstered than their XKR counterparts; elegant needlework; pewter-anodized aluminum trim (nary a splinter of wood); and the expected infotainment electronics, including premium audio and a somewhat finicky nav system.
Color choices include two that supposedly celebrate Jaguars racing heritageItalian red, and French racing blue. No BRG? Whats up with that? Never mind. This is the most satisfying XK yethandsome, comfortable, and meticulously assembled, as well as seriously fast. The luxury GT game has a compelling new player.

Sedan Jaguar XJ

When you're sitting behind the wheel of a new Jaguar XJ, it would appear that no rainy day could affect your mood. Well, except for those 6,475 U.S.-spec units manufactured between July 28, 2009 and November 3, 2010, on which the front wiper arms weren't sufficiently torqued during assembly. Consequently, Jaguar has issued a recall for the affected cars, according to a NHTSA press release.

Jaguar XF Estate (2012) Won

Jaguar XF is launching a new building in 2012. Artistic Impression of the car reveals that the Jaguar XF car show - and the promise of the sources of the Jaguar is very sport wagon.

Despite being only a derivative of the XF sedan body, the real estate development XF takes some time and we will not see a car show this year.

Jaguar XF Summer (2012): why the delay?

Because Ford's product planners did not include a car from the first day of the body, Jaguar engineers are required to develop real estate XF from zero.

This is to make the project more expensive and more complex - and Jaguar will be the tool for the Castle Bromwich plant in the downtime during the holiday periods.

What is the true Jaguar XF think?

Our sources say that real estate XF will be the same length as the sedan 4961mm - and the excess is distributed well. We hear the surround XJ rear pillars will result in the car, having a second load lugger more striking than the Jaguar X-Type Estate is croup.

But despite the limitations package promises Jaguar XF property will be as convenient as the Audi A6 Avant and BMW 5 Series Touring, if not quite as large as head echoingly Class Mercedes E-Class Estate.

Why is the seal Jaguar XF building?

XF is a cat model sold approximately 30,000 units per year. XF in the UK accounts for 80% of all sales of the Jaguar.

The name of the game is to expand its portfolio of Jaguar. Thus, the 2.2 turbodiesel arrived September 1, 2011 extends to major centers of company car Jaguar XF real estate while putting the model on the radar of buyers even further. "

We expect to see the new Jaguar XF property at a European Motor Show in 2012, probably in Geneva or Paris. A U.S. debut is unlikely, because the cars do not cut it in America.

Jaguar XFR

The Jaguar XFR sports car appeared at the Detroit North American International Auto Show in January 2009 as a fresh achievement acquired of the XK range, and featured the fresh 5.0-litre Supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III agent rated 510 PS (375 kW; 503 hp), a revised advanced bonanza and addle-brain and 20-inch (510 mm)-inch admixture wheels.

It Came From eBay Hell: 1993 Jaguar XJ6 Airport Limousine

In the glory days of air travel when you could still smoke and fly without the fear of being groped and fondled by security personnel wearing latex gloves some passengers were lucky enough to commute from the terminal to their hotel in the back of an airport limousine.
These stretched cars, with their multiple rows of seats and doors, were essentially the primitive precursor to the modern day shuttle bus.

For the latest version we have been able to evolve and improve performance as the character car XF visually more dynamic in its class. "Ian Callum, Design Director of Jaguar Cars

Jaguar XF and transmission dynamics

The most important improvements of the Jaguar XF is to introduce a 2.2-liter AJ-i4d turbo diesel. The device is a low-friction pistons and water-cooled turbocharger to increase efficiency as well as active engine mounts, and changes in the oil pan and the block to reduce NVH levels. The result is not only most of the Jaguar fuel engine ever, but it provides a level of complexity comparable to that previously installed 2.7-liter V6 diesel, and all benefits under the Jaguar sports sedan. Further development is ensured in all models by using additional acoustic protection and the use of computational fluid dynamics smooth the flow of outside air.

Power output is 190p with an impressive torque of 450 nm to give muscle performance expected of a Jaguar. To reach 60 mph in 8.0 seconds, the car will reach a top speed of 140 mph. However, the unit still manages 52.3mpg on the EU combined cycle - making it the most affordable Jaguar ever - and emits only 149g/km of CO2 and is the stage Euro V compatible.

Smart Stop / Start

He also made his debut with the 2.2 liter diesel engine is new Jaguar Smart Stop / Start, the first time that this technology is a luxury sedan in diesel. This automatically cuts the engine in just 300 milliseconds when the vehicle stops, to improve fuel economy and CO2 emissions of between five and seven percent.

No driver intervention is necessary, the engine management software to analyze many complex factors, in order to determine when the engine can be stopped safely. Tandem solenoid starter with a dedicated secondary battery starts the motor instantly when the driver's foot leaves the brake pedal, ensuring it is running optimally time the accelerator is pressed. To facilitate this process, the transmission properties of the hydraulic Impulse Warehousing, which supplies oil pressure to go to the link elements.

For the first time, all versions are available with diesel Jaguar system of dynamic adaptation, allowing the enthusiast driver to enjoy a car chassis control and exceptional sports to discover the soul of the Jaguar XF.

Jaguar XF Interior

Whether we consider the driver or passenger, the passenger in the Jaguar XF is a unique welcoming and elegant to spend time using high quality materials in a truly modern.
Continued function surprise and delight the "dramatic" Jaguar Drive Selector provides that, rising from the center console and air vents that rotate in their open position when the start button is pressed, the Jaguar XF interior has also had a major update.

Jaguars Ian Callum Confirms Hot R Edition of Upcoming XF Sport Break

We already knew that Jaguar was preparing an estate (or, as they prefer to call it, Sport Break) version of the XF. What we were not so sure about was whether the XF Sport Break would get a range-topping R version like its sedan sibling.
Up until now, that is, because Ian Callum, Jags chief designer, recently told the Dutch publication Autovisie that the company will indeed present and XFR variant of the estate. And it will of course be powered by the same 510-hp turbocharged V8 of the sedan, giving rivals such as Audis RS6 something to worry about.

2011 Jaguar XJ Sedan interior
Interior Design and Special Features

The interior of the Jaguar XJ is exquisite, there's really no other way to describe it. Not only is the unique design and attractive in terms of aesthetics, but his experience and quality materials are a step beyond this league is impressive. Parallels Bentley would not be unjustified. Soft leather covers not only the seats, but most of the dashboard and doors. Rich wood paneling wraps inside as if it were a structural element. Very well applied chrome piano black, seat and extra ice blue lighting decorate the cabin of a royalty. And with a variety of color options, is easy to adapt to the XJ in the way you want.

Electronics board is dominated by a large touch screen, which works OK but not as fast as e-systems to see how the BMW iDrive knob. Power of the processor is slow. Instrumentation is actually a large LCD screen, and adapts to different driving scenarios and service functions (navigation, for example).

As before, the back seat of the length of the regular XJ is a bit small. If you normally have rear passengers, approaching one of the L is definitely a good idea. The low roofline of the JAG provides a sufficient margin for most passengers, but passengers feel less like they were in a limousine that would compete. The boot is half of 15.2 cubic feet.

Driving Impressions

Few cars achieve excellent balance between comfort and sporty handling that Jaguar XJ 2011. Even with large wheels, sliding on the road with advanced flexibility. However, with its lightweight aluminum frame and an adaptive suspension, the XJ is also misleading agile. The choice of car in "dynamic" driver makes a clear answer faster, stronger and faster shocks downshifts, which makes the XJ are much more lively. The management is strong, body roll is negligible and there is no flexibility in the XJ is seen as lacking in strong rivals. What is the engine you choose is just if you want fast, faster and faster. In fact, despite having less power than the BMW 750i, lightweight XJ 5.0 Sport is essentially accelerated Bimmer.
