Independent BMW customizer Alpina has published the first official sketch of its upcoming B5 Bi-Turbo ahead of the sports saloon world premiere at next month's 'Goodwood Festival of Speed' event in the UK.
As the car's name suggests, the B5 Bi-Turbo is based on the new 2011 BMW 5-Series sedan. So far, Alpina is keeping a tight lid on details about the car, but if the company's previous and current models are anything to go by, then the B5 Bi-Turbo could be all the M5 you'll ever want.
A gallery of scanned photos from a leaked brochure gives us our first glimpse of the M Sport Package for the 2011 BMW 5-Series, which is expected to be available for order this fall. Even though the pictures show an M Sports-dressed Touring model [F11], understandably, the same parts will be offered on the sedan version [F10] of the new 5-Series.
The color-coded aero kit includes a newly designed, chunkier front bumper with larger air ducts, side skirts and a revamped rear bumper with an integrated diffuser finished in a dark shade and chrome tail pipes.
The Grand Prix is Senner Tuning's take on the new Audi S5 Sportback. Starting with the engine, the German company brings output from the standard 3.0-liter TSI's 333 horsepower and 440Nm /325 lb-ft of torque to 375HP and 495Nm / 365 lb-ft. The power boost comes from a reconfigured ECU, the addition of a performance air filter as well as a custom sport exhaust system with four tail pipes.
Designer Arturo Alonso from GWA-Tuning strikes again, this time with a cosmetics package for the 2011 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Estate. The proposed kit seen in these chopped images includes a new front bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights, a unique grille, a massive rear diffuser housing quad tail pipes, fender vents, side skirts, roof spoiler and carbon fiber trimming.
Heico Sportiv has been putting together more stylish and powerful Volvos for over a decade. Now, the tuning firm has once again joined forces with Volvo to create a special edition version of the V60 T6 estate for the German market. It goes on sale this summer with a hefty 70,193 [about US$87,000] price tag in a limited run of just 100 copies, all in a metallic sapphire black shade.
This V70 T6 AWD R-Design is motivated by the firm's 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 upgraded with a recalibrated ECU and a sport exhaust system that cranks out 325HP and a maximum torque of 460 Nm / 339 lb-ft, a jump of 21HP and 20Nm over stock. The engine is matched to a six-gear automatic gearbox with geartronic function.
This hodgepodge of automotive parts of all sorts and sizes fused onto the welded bodies of two Mercedes-Benz 300TD estates of the early 1980s, is up for auction at eBay. The asking price is probably even more ridiculous than the 'Thing's' looks: just under a million US dollars - $950,000 or about 770,000 at today's exchange rates, to be exact.
The extra-terrestrial Mercedes diesel model is the work of one Antti Rahko. The 10-seater model measures a whopping 29 feet in length (or close to 8.9 meters) and tips the scales at a scary 7,500 lbs or about 3,402 kilograms, featuring parts from more than 40 cars including 86 lights and 36 mirrors.
Sometimes inspiration can come from the most unlikely sources. Take MWDesign, for instance. For their latest project based on the BMW Z4 E89 hardtop-roadster with straight-six turbo, the Vancouver-based tuning shop drew their design inspiration from Nike's Slingshot golf clubs series.
The tuner started out by adding an AC Schnitzer front spoiler complete with custom carbon fiber lower splitters, 3D Design matte carbon fiber rear diffuser and boot lid spoiler, BMW Performance kidney grilles, a carbon fiber hood strip and a set of 20-inch Modular alloy wheels with glossy black outer rims.
MWDesign's next assignment was to apply lime green accents on the front air-ducts, the alloy wheels, the tail pipe surrounds and the twin roll bars. The custom carbon fiber exterior accents with primer grey on the hood, the trunk and the retractable hardtop along with the matte black tailpipes complete the visual makeover.
The new Porsche Panamera sports saloon continues to attract the attention of numerous tuners, the most recent being Hofele Design that has presented a new styling package called RIVAGE GT 970.
The body kit starts off with a new front bumper complete with LED-daytime running lights, a fixed rear spoiler, side skirts and a redesigned rear bumper with additional air vents that bring to mind the Audi R8 and a diffuser.
RDX Racedesign, a German tuning house, has completed a new styling package for the Volkswagen Scirocco coupe. The tuner modifies the Scirocco's appearance with a comprehensive body kit that includes a front apron, beefier side skirts, headlamp covers, a rear apron that incorporates a protruding diffuser and an extra-large roof spoiler. All components are made from PU-ABS thermoplastic. The car's looks can be further enhanced with a set of multispoke alloy wheels. Full gallery after the jump.
A bespoke version of the BMW X6 tweaked with bits and pieces from the shelves of the Bavarian firm's Performance and Individual divisions has been revealed in Japan. The BMW X6 Performance Unlimited is based off a X6 xDrive35i and will be offered in a strictly limited edition of 20 examples.
The Japanese-market-only X6 special is coated in a silver-pearl body color from the automaker's Individual program and comes with a BMW Performance aero-kit that includes a new front bumper, side skirts, rear diffuser and blacked-out kidney grilles. The unique 21-inch alloy wheels shod in chunkier sport tires and darkened windows round off the exterior package.
Most of you remember the Mansory-prepped Rolls Royce Ghost Gold Edition from this year's Geneva Salon - how can one forget such an eye-blinding proposal... The Swiss tuner is back with a new strictly limited edition version of the "baby" Rolls Royce, named for obvious reasons the Ghost White Edition, of which only three examples will be built.
Even though it features the exact same body kit with restyled bumpers, spoilers, side skirts and additional air vents as well as alloy wheel designs with the Gold Edition, this time Mansory skipped the Fast-&-Furious paint job and gaudy gold trim in favor of a simple white finish and unpainted 22-inch rims. The silly-looking boot lid spoiler is still there, but overall, a huge improvement over the Gold Edition.
If you liked Merdad's idea of a two-door Porsche Cayenne SUV, then you'll be happy to know that another tuning firm has came up with a similar conversion for the BMW X6 crossover. This time, the culprit is a Russian company called ArmorTech that specializes on custom and armored vehicles.
Starting with the standard X6, Ameritech chops off the rear doors and moves the B-Column further back to fit larger front doors (+250mm or 9.8-in.). The conversion also includes a new rear window and bespoke front seats that tilt and slide forward to allow for convenient access to the rear seats.
